Tom’s River, NJ — Mayor Daniel “Dictator Dan” Rodrick is facing growing scrutiny after allegations surfaced that he has been using his township-issued vehicle for personal enjoyment, including drifting at the local English Town track and making frequent trips to his favorite buffet.

Residents were shocked to learn that the mayor has been spotted engaging in reckless driving in the vehicle designated for municipal duties. Eyewitnesses reported seeing Dan perform high-speed maneuvers at the track, much to the amusement—and concern—of onlookers. “I couldn’t believe my eyes,” said local resident Kevin Matthews, who witnessed the mayor’s antics. “It was like something out of a movie. I mean, we all know he likes to push the envelope, but this is taking it too far.”

The township vehicle, a newly leased SUV adorned with the official emblem of Tom’s River, is typically used for public engagements and necessary transportation. However, sources close to the mayor claim he has been using it to drive to the buffet, as well as to his teaching job at a local high school, further blurring the lines of appropriate use.

Critics are quick to condemn his behavior. “This is a gross misuse of public resources,” said local activist Linda Rhodes. “While our town struggles with budget cuts and service reductions, he’s out there treating a township car like a personal toy. It’s completely unacceptable.”

In response to the allegations, Dan’s office issued a statement claiming that “any use of the vehicle is within the guidelines set forth for township employees.” However, the mayor’s explanation did little to quell the outrage. “This is not what we expect from our leadership. The mayor should be setting an example, not engaging in reckless behavior that puts himself and others at risk.”

The controversy has prompted calls for an investigation into the mayor’s use of the township vehicle. A petition for accountability has gained traction, gathering signatures from concerned citizens who demand transparency and a thorough review of how public resources are utilized.

As the backlash continues, Tom’s River residents are left wondering if Mayor Dan’s reckless behavior will lead to further fallout. “This is just another chapter in a long list of questionable decisions,” said Rhodes. “We need a leader who respects the community and the resources entrusted to them.”

With pressure mounting, will “Dictator Dan” face consequences for his actions, or will he continue to drift through controversy unscathed? One thing is for certain: the residents of Tom’s River are watching closely.
